FAQs

Q: I have a leak in one of the seams of my roof, what is the best product to use to fix it?
A: To fix a leaking seam the best product for the job is a 100% rubber elastomeric roofing product free of bitumen or other ingredients, which can easily crack. Secure any loose seam with Polyprene beneath the joint. Seal all seams using polyester PolyCore embedded into a layer of Polyprene. Because it holds its pliability, Polyprene® won’t split or crack over time, which could cause leaks to recur.

Q: Which Polyprene® should I use to seal large gaps in my roofs surface?
A: Polyprene Trowel Grade is thicker with enough body to fill gaps up to ¼” without sagging. It cures to a tough rubber seal that is strong. You may use backing material such as foam in an aerosol can to fill voids prior to sealing.

Q: Are there different grades of Polyprene for different roof types and uses?
A: Yes. Polyprene for EPDM/PVC is specifically for use on EPDM and PVC membranes. Our standard Heavy Brush Grade Polyprene is popular for most all other repairs (seams, cracks, flashings etc). It spreads quickly and easily around penetrations and seams yet holds tight to seal out moisture. Polyprene Trowel Grade is a more viscous cement. Use for when you need body, build-up or fill larger gaps up to ¼”.
