Black Spice Adhesive-EPDM Roof System

PRODUCT OVERVIEW & FEATURES
PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive is a Butyl-based contact adhesive with high initial green strength and excellent durability. PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive can be used to adhere two cleaned surfaces of EPDM single-ply membrane to each other.

APPLICATION
PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive should be applied at temperatures of 40oF or above. Applying the Black Splice Adhesive at temperatures below 40oF will extend drying times and potentially cause condensation of water on the membrane surface producing lower ultimate bond strengths.

If PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive is stored below 40oF, store the Black Splice Adhesive at room temperature (72oF) for at least three days before using. Apply PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive with a brush. Brush a coat of adhesive on both EPDM surfaces to be bonded. Air dry 15 – 45 minutes at ambient temperatures until adhesive is tacky to the touch, but will NOT transfer to a gloved finger. Bond with sufficient pressure to assure  intimate contact of the coated surfaces.

HANDLING
PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive contains ingredients which could be harmful if mishandled. Contact with skin and eyes should be avoided and necessaryprotective equipment and clothing should be worn. All five gallon pails and larger metal containers should be grounded and/or bonded when material is transferred. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along the ground or may be moved by ventilation and ignited by pilot lights, other flames, sparks, heaters, smoking, electric motors, static discharge, or other ingnition sources at locations distant from material handling point. Never use welding or cutting torch on or near drum (even empty) because product (even residue) can ignite explosively. RECOMMENDED STORAGE
When PLIOBOND 9053 Black Splice Adhesive is stored indoors, out of direct sunlight, and in the original, unopened container between 60oF and 80oF, the shelf life is nine months. Always rotate stock.

DISPOSAL
Dispose of empty containers, application tools and any product waste in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
