Dear Sirs, By way of this letter, please allow us to recognize the excellent results that were obtained from using "Topps System 5100" to waterproof 20,000 m2 of the concrete roof slab in our Sterile Fly Production Facility. It is important to mention that we are satisfied with the results obtained starting the same year in which we applied the products (2002), given the fact that we had previously tried other types of acrylic waterproofing systems and obtained negative results. The challenges were as follows:
- The Production Facility's roof slab measures 200meters x 100meters for a total surface of 20,000 m2.
- Given this large area, the surface water drainage is difficult when it rains and resulted before then in considerable water infiltrations.
- The slab type, the seismic construction and expansion joints, differential settlements due to natural earth movements, vibration from equipment installed on the roof top, had all contributed to a large quantity of cracks and deterioration of overall slab integrity which lead to severe water infiltrations when it rained.
- We attempted to address the problem with various waterproofing methods, which although extremely costly, did not resolve the situation described above. This was specifically due to the natural deterioration and decay of the materials which were used and could not resist to the harsh environmental conditions (high temperature, abrupt climatic changes, rain, etc.). Additionally, the waterproofing layers eventually lost their characteristics through weathering and crystallization.
